4 Ingredient Chocolate Cherry Bombs is a frozen dairy-free snack or dessert than everyone will love! Dark, sweet frozen cherries are dipped in vegan vanilla yogurt, then frozen and dipped in melted dark chocolate for yet another silky layer of deliciousness! This meal prep friendly sweet treat tastes like a cross between a truffle and an ice cream bar and it’s very easy to make.
Only 4 Ingredients!
- Frozen Cherries, which..side note: are delicious on their own as a sweet snack. Cherries never fully freeze into a hard mass like ice cubes…they’re more sherbet-like even when totally frozen making them an ideal snack when you want something sweet but don’t feel like digging into a pint of ice cream.
- Vegan Vanilla Yogurt, the thicker the better!
- Vegan Chocolate Chips, I prefer to use the semi-sweet Enjoy Life Mini Chocolate Chips for this. They’re so delicious and easily melt down into a smooth chocolate sauce
- Refined Coconut Oil – not a lot! Just a little bit does a long way in a creating that lovely snap that good chocolate should have when you bite into it. I recommend using refined rather than virgin though. That way it won’t impart a coconut flavor.
Frozen Chocolate Cherry Bombs
Ingredients
- 10 oz frozen cherries, pre-pitted
- 1 cup vegan vanilla yogurt , see notes if using a thin yogurt*
- 1.5 cup vegan chocolate chips
- 1.5 tbsp melted coconut oil, refined
Instructions
Prep
- Using a toothpick or skewer, dunk one cherry into the yogurt and swirl to coat. Allow the excess to drip off and then place the cherry on a lined cookie sheet or plate. Repeat with the remaining cherries then freeze for 10-15 minutes set.
Melt the Chocolate
- In the meantime, combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl and heat in 10 second intervals, stirring in betwene, until melted. Be careful not to overheat. It's better to pull it out while the chocolate is still lumpy and stir until smooth rather than trying to get it to melt completely in the microwave. Tip: This can also be done on the stove using a double boiler.
Assemble
- Allow th chocolate sauce to cool slighly then dip each yogurt-covered cherry into the chocolate. Drip off any excess, then place on the cookie sheet and freeze until firm. Minimum one 1 hour or up to overnight. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer to enjoy whenever you're craving something sweet!

Hope you’re all having a nice day ☀️ Nicole
I made these cherries tonight and they came out amazing. The vanilla yogurt is a nice addition to the standard chocolate covered fruit.
I think so too! I’m happy to hear that you enjoyed this recipe. It’s one of my favorites right now 😊😊 Thanks for letting me know!
I was not expecting these to pack such a flavor punch or to feel so decadent, but they are really wonderful and so simple to make. I used Kite Hill Vanilla yogurt and it worked well.
I’m so glad you liked them! I love the way the cherries are tart and tangy and the vanilla yogurt is too..and then the creamy crunchy chocolate shell ties it all together. One of my favorite treats to make for sure. Glad you enjoyed it too 😊😊
