How to Make Tofu Scramble Taste Better

If you think you don’t like the taste of vegan eggs, here are a few recipes and tips to make tofu scramble taste incredible!

1. Use medium tofu for a soft-scrambled egg texture ๐ŸŒฑ

2. Break the tofu into small pieces. Larger pieces can be deceptive because they look seasoned on the outside but this dish cooks so quickly that the flavors don’t have time to get into the tofu, leaving you with bland, unseasoned parts in the middle. Break it up with a wooden spoon while it cooks to allow for maximum flavor absorption ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ

3. Sautรฉ with salsa for a super fast way to add flavor ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿง…๐ŸŒถ

4. Add vegan cheese in the last minute of cooking so it melts into the tofu. This makes the texture SO creamy and egg-like because, unlike eggs, tofu doesn’t have much fat so adding in some vegan cheese helps mimic that creamy texture and adds lots of flavor at the same time! A little goes a long way too, so I stir it in while cooking and sprinkle a touch more on top because, CHEESE!! lol ๐Ÿง€

5. Nutritional Yeast helps a lot. Not only does it boost the protein and vitamin B12 in your morning meal, but it also adds a nice umami quality that makes this dish a lot more flavorful.

6. Get creative with how you serve it! You can serve tofu scramble exactly like eggs – with toast and a side fruit – or you can wrap them up into a tortilla for a flavorful breakfast burrito or make breakfast tacos with some sliced avocado and pico de gallo! I also love putting tofu scramble into warm pitas with creamy tahini sauce and tangly pickled red onions. So good!
